Website re-platform

The Tremayne family and its descendants have owned the land on which Heligan Caravan & Camping Park sits for 400 years. Sheltered by majestic oak woods with open views across the countryside to the sea, it is part of a large estate that includes the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Heligan Caravan & Camping Park exists to share a deeper connection between people, nature and each other, without compromising any of the creature comforts that make up a 5-star stay.

Our challenge?

The team at Heligan had both a website that was quite old and provided a poor mobile experience, and a belief that the uniqueness of their proposition - the specialness of their place - wasn’t being communicated clearly.

They sought our expertise to crystallise their proposition, develop the visual style of their communications and produce a new website which would improve the online booking experience and comprehension of what Heligan Caravan and Camping Park offers.

Connecting the brand with guests

During our Discovery work, it became abundantly clear that the entire team at Heligan are hugely passionate about making the guest experience as good as it can be: from landscaping and grounds care, to facility management & customer service, everyone personally cares for and protects the site and their guests.

Our research into ‘why people go camping’ confirmed that what guests are seeking is an escape from the daily grind that enables them to switch off, get space and perspective, and improve overall wellbeing by being closer to nature.

The combination of the personal care and protection of the team at Heligan and the insight that guests choose camping to get closer to nature, led us to a clear & compelling proposition: ‘nurturing your connection to nature’.

Creating a sense of place

Our design process developed the overall brand visual language by extending the colour palette and introducing more suitable typography, inspirational images and engaging and emotive heading and title text. This included icons that represented the flora & fauna native to the estate, and an accent colour drawn from the beautiful Camelia flower.

"It has been a complete joy to work together with the Gendall team. They helped to distill our proposition, values and the uniqueness of our offer, and designed and delivered us a website that truly showcases what is special about Heligan, fully aligning it with our customer needs."

- Lily Egbers, Marketing Manager
